New England Wooden Ware Packaging and Displays (NEWW), based in Gardner, Massachusetts, has recently purchased a new five color KOLBUS RD 115S Flexo Rotary Die Cutter to upgrade their current printing capabilities.

The German built, fully servo KOLBUS RD115S will replace their existing 2008 115” Six Color Hycorr Rotary Die Cutter. The RD 115S is the newest innovation from Kolbus, featuring advanced technology including image stretch/shrink functionality, plate skewing for fine adjustments without opening the machine, a feed unit with repeatable sheet separation with servo driven feed wheels and lift grid, and a rigid cast iron frame die cutter module. “Convenient features like the pneumatic plate locking mechanism and the individual servo drives on the plate cylinder, impression roll, and sheet transport make the RD 115S stand out. The automatic register adjustment while running is a game changer,” said Ryan Clark, Sales Manager, KOLBUS America

“After looking into several machines, we are pleased with our purchase of the KOLBUS RD 115S.  We felt that Kolbus was the best option not only for our current customer base but for our future growth as a company.  The RD 115S will allow NEWW to offer a higher level of print quality and improve our capabilities,” said Steve MacDonald, Plant Manager, NEWW.

“We’ve seen tremendous interest in our RD 115S. It’s been building momentum ever since our first US based install at a very prominent integrated. It comes as no surprise given KOLBUS’ push to become a lead supplier of flexo rotary die cutters. With KOLBUS’ commitment to our customers, German engineering standards, and one of the shortest lead times in the industry, we plan on continuing to make an impact in the industry,” said Clark.

NEWW will be the first facility on the East Coast to offer the KOLBUS RD 115S printing capabilities, and the third in North America to purchase this innovative machine. Installation is scheduled for Q2 2022.

Founded in 1834 as the E. Murdock Company in Winchendon, MA, NEWW was at one time the largest manufacturer of wooden products and containers in New England. NEWW transitioned from wood to corrugated packaging in the early 1940's in response to a changing economy and customers demands.

Today, NEWW Packaging and Display is an independent, family-owned corrugated converter located in Gardner, Massachusetts. Within the past twenty years, they’ve become a premier supplier of packaging and displays, while providing exceptional customer experience in all of their services.
